Piraeus Bank entered the Serbian market in May 2005 with the acquisition of Atlas Bank. Through capital increase in October 2005, Piraeus Bank S.A. became the owner of 88.23 percent of Atlas Bank. Thereafter the bank was renamed to Piraeus Atlas Bank. In late June 2006, following the decision of Piraeus Bank Group to rename all member banks within the region, Piraeus Atlas Bank was renamed to Piraeus Bank AD Belgrade. Through acquisition of the remaining shares of the Bank from minority shareholders, in the mid-July 2006, Piraeus Bank S.A. became 100% owner of the Bank.

With aim to upgrade overall business and enlarge the banking offer, in 2007 two new business companies: Piraeus Leasing d.o.o. and Piraeus Rent d.o.o. started operating on the Serbian market.
